Global ocean conference brings in $16 billion in pledges for marine health

The seventh Our Ocean Conference, which took place in Palau, a Pacific island nation, brought in $16 billion for marine health, according to Mongabay. This global conference brought together government representatives, private sector representatives, philanthropic organizations, and many more.

This year’s conference was the first time this global ocean conference took place on a small island nation. This unique perspective highlighted how vulnerable these nations are to the current climate crisis and ocean health issues. The large Indigenous presence on the island also underscored how critical a thriving ocean is for these communities.

The $16 billion in pledges achieved through this conference will go far to help with our ocean health and our climate crisis.
