Detroit is the first U.S. city getting an EV-charging road

As electric vehicles continue to be made and purchased at record rates, companies are researching solutions to charge them more efficiently and conveniently. According to Good News Network, Ford will launch the Michigan Project next year in Detroit to wirelessly charge electric vehicles while they are in motion. This will be a collaborative project along with DTE, a local energy company that will provide a connection to the energy grid.

EV-charging roads are already being implemented in some countries including Italy, Germany, Sweden, and Israel. However, the Michigan Project is the first such effort to be implemented in the United States.

Electrifying decreases CO2 emissions directly from the vehicles, however there are still emissions that come from generating the electricity. With forward momentum of electric infrastructure, and goals to reach carbon zero by specific years, this is an important time to celebrate these achievements and continue to move forward. Previously, gas-guzzling cars have been more convenient and able to travel longer distances. Now with on-the-road charging, electric vehicles will be even more convenient: you won’t even have to stop to refuel!
