About Laura van Dernoot Lipsky

A pioneer in the field of trauma exposure, who founded The Trauma Stewardship Institute, and has published multiple books on the subject.

Laura van Dernoot Lipsky is the founder and director of The Trauma Stewardship Institute and author of Trauma Stewardship: An Everyday Guide to Caring for Self While Caring for Others and The Age of Overwhelm.

Through keynote speeches, experiential workshops, and direct consultation, The Trauma Stewardship Institute offers practical tools for cultivating the deep self-knowledge and systemic insights that are at the core of trauma stewardship. The Trauma Stewardship Institute focuses on raising awareness of and responding to the cumulative toll on those who are exposed to the suffering, hardship, crisis, or trauma of humans, living beings, or the planet itself, something van Dernoot Lipsky has had first hand experience with, working with survivors of child abuse, domestic violence, sexual assault, acute trauma of all kinds, and natural disasters.

Van Dernoot Lipsky has worked locally, nationally, and internationally, as a pioneer in the field of trauma exposure, and assisting in the aftermath of community catastrophes. She is also on the advisory board of ZGiRLS, an organization that supports young girls in sports and is a founding member of the International Transformational Resilience Network, which supports the development of capacity to address climate change.
