Charles Eisenstein is an American public speaker and author whose work covers a wide range of topics, including the history of human civilization, economics, spirituality, and the ecology movement. His works discuss themes of anti-consumerism, interdependence, and how myth and narrative influence our culture. According to Eisenstein, global culture is immersed in a destructive story of separation, and one of the main goals of his work is to present an alternative story of interconnectedness. Much of his work draws on ideas from Eastern philosophy and the spiritual teachings of various indigenous peoples.

His work was heavily influential in the Occupy movement, an international movement aimed to advance social and economic justice and different forms of democracy. His books, The Ascent of Humanity and Sacred Economics are credited with getting the movement moving. The pandemic affected Eisenstein, leading to him writing his most recent book, The Coronation, based on the viral essay by that same name that he published in the first month of the pandemic. He now also runs a podcast called, A New and Ancient Story, which features conversations with guests who have inspired Eisenstein with their work, their story, or their presence.
